Z. Randall Stroope is an American composer and conductor. He has conducted concerts in 25 countries, is the Artistic Director of two international summer music festivals, and has directed music for Vatican mass 11 times. In the last two years, he has lead festivals in Rome, Hong Kong, Barcelona, Dublin, as well as a concert tour through Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic and another tour with a professional choir through the Baltics (2022). He also was on the adjudication team for Orientale Concentus, an international festival in Singapore, and taught in Assisi, Italy, the last two summers. In the United States, Randall has conducted 40 performances at Carnegie Hall, been invited to perform for the American Choral Directors national convention on two different occasions, and conducted 48 all-state choirs.

In composition, Randall’s teacher-mentors were Normand Lockwood and Cecil Effinger, both students of Nadia Boulanger. He recently premiered a large work with chorus/chorus, titled Carmina Pax (Songs of Peace) at Carnegie Hall, and the London Symphony performed a work of his on the LSO Holiday Concerts.

Born in New Mexico, Randall completed a Master of Music (Voice Performance) degree at the University of Colorado Boulder, and Doctor of Musical Arts (Choral Conducting) degree at Arizona State University. He did post graduate work with Margaret Hillis, Chorus Master of the Chicago Symphony.
