EnsemblesThe UNM Opera Theatre is a nationally recognized program, winning two first-place awards from the National Opera Association
Our program presents two productions in the academic year. All students in Opera Theatre are given the opportunity to perform in the opera scenes performances or the fully-staged opera production accompanied by the UNM Symphony Orchestra. All of our costumes come from the Santa Fe Opera.
Our goal is to educate and develop the talents of singers who have an interest not only in singing opera, but also in pursuing directing, musical theater, and developing the “whole” singer. We incorporate improvisational techniques and movement into the curriculum as well.
The UNM Opera Theatre is stage directed by Dr. Olga Flora and Professor Jamie Flora. Dr. Kristin Ditlow is the music director and conductor for UNM Opera Theatre.
