Campus Libraries

  • Fine Arts Library—The Fine Arts Library is located on the second floor of the Center for the Arts. Consult library personnel about services available to faculty.

  • Zimmerman Library—Zimmerman (277-5057) is the main library facility at UNM. Interlibrary Loan is located on the 1st floor. For hours of the various UNM General Library branches, call 277-2003 or access online.

Computer Support

  • The College of Fine Arts is temporarily without technology staff to assist with computer- and web-related issues. Until the CFA computer tech team is restored, all major computer issues and problems should be directed to Holly Barnet-Sanchez, the Dean for Student Affairs and Technology, who will then contact UNM ITS. For minor problems, try consulting UNM's Fast Info page, available via MyUNM.

  • ITS—Information and Technology Services (formerly CIRT) provides computing services and support for the academic community. The ITS Support Center can be reached at 277-4848.

Parking

  • All weekday parking on campus is by paid permit or meters. As faculty, you are entitled to a parking permit. Faculty permits are valid for a one-year period beginning August 20 of each year. Permits for various lots and prices are available. Fees are graduated according to salary, and payment is usually by payroll deduction. Contact UNM Parking & Transportation Services, located at 1621 Central NE, 277-1930. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, except for UNM holidays.

  • NOTE: Try to get your permit in July; it will save you MUCH time and headache.

Faculty ID Card

  • Full-time faculty on contract should obtain a “Lobo” card, with picture, from the Lobo Card Office, located in the Student Services Center, Rm. 131, 277-9970. The Lobo Card has no expiration date.

  • Temporary part-time faculty normally receive an ID card without a picture. Those part-time faculty needing access to the practice room area in the basement can also receive a “Lobo” ID card which will work the security access system. Consult the Department Administrator, Barbara Boehms, about the procedure for getting one. You will still need your temporary ID card for other purposes, such as checking out library books.

“Snow Days”

  • Rarely, weather conditions will warrant closure of the University. In case of snow, you should listen to local radio and television stations for information about UNM, or you can call the UNM “Snow Hotline” at 277-SNOW to find out if classes have been cancelled, or have been put on a delay. In case of the latter, a “two-hour” delay, for example, means that the university will open at 10:00 a.m. instead of 8:00 a.m.; any classes scheduled to meet before 10:00 a.m. are in effect cancelled.

  • In the event of delays or closures during final exam week, UNM’s Inclement Weather (Snow) Policy stipulates that faculty whose final exams are affected by the delay or closure can choose one of three options. Students must be informed about the selected option, preferably in the syllabus. The options are:

    • Faculty may assign as final grades, the current grades that students have going into final exam week.
    • Faculty may make provisions for students whose exams are canceled to contact them for the scheduling of a make-up exam or alternative arrangements.
    • Faculty may, as a last resort, choose to assign incomplete grades.

Athletic Programs/Recreational Facilities

See the The Pathfinder for details. Faculty discounts are available. The Recreational Services Department is located in Johnson Center, Room 1102, phone 277-4347; a schedule of services, classes and events is published each semester.
