Qualifications: Prefer students wishing to pursue master’s degrees in Theory and Composition. Consideration for these assistantships will also be given to students with exceptional theory skills who wish to pursue other concentrations within the Master of Music degree program.
Responsibilities: Assistantship duties involve teaching and/or assisting with lower-level theory and aural musicianship classes as needed.
Stipend: This is a two-year (four-semester) half-assistantship, with total workload of 10 hours per week. Contract is by semester, but renewable if work is satisfactory. The stipend is approximately $6233 per academic year, in addition to a waiver of tuition (exclusive of special course fees) for up to 6 credits per semester (does not apply to summer tuition). Any additional hours, including summer coursework, can be taken at the resident tuition rate.

Additional Requirements: To be eligible for an assistantship whose duties involve teaching, an international student must demonstrate proficiency in English as determined by the TOEFL: A minimum score of 250 on the computerized version of the test will be required (equivalent to 600 for the paper-based or 100 for the internet version).
