To be accepted into the program as a performance major, you will need to audition for the appropriate applied music faculty.
For information on what material to prepare for an audition, be sure to check the studio page (under "Department Areas") of the faculty member with whom you wish to study. If no specific audition requirements appear or if you would like further information, please contact the instructor.

If you are applying for an assistantship or departmental scholarship, you must audition before March 1, 2008, and your application materials must be received by that date.
auditions for non-majors or for secondary instrument study:
If you want to take studio instruction (Applied Music) as a non-major, or if you are a music major and want to study a secondary intrument, you must also play an audition. Certain of the instruments and voice have auditions at particular times of the semester, including guitar, voice and piano. For all others, you should contact the particular instructor with whom you wish to study. Details may be found at Applied Music Auditions (PDF, 52KB).
ensemble auditions:
Most ensembles require an audition. Even if you are already accepted into the music program in your instrument, you will need to audition in order to enroll in any of the major ensembles. Auditions are required also for a number of the smaller ensembles. Details may be found at Ensemble Auditions (PDF, 56KB).
