Spanish Roses

From the Liner Notes:
Michael Chapdelaine has twice won the National Endowment for the Arts Solo Recitalist Grant, as well as First Prize in both Guitar Foundation of America’s and the Music Teachers Natrional Association Guitar Competitions. He won the Silver Medal in Venezuela’s VIII Concurso International de Guitarra “Alirio Diaz,” and in 1998 won First Prize at the National Fingerpicking Championship at Winfield.
Chapdelaine’s Sonata Romantica CD is considered to be one of the definitive recordings for the classical guitar. Acoustic Guitar magazine wrote, “… if I were marooned on a desert island with a limited selection of recordings, this one would be among my choices… I have seldom heard a more beautiful album. Other guitarists have excellent technique, but few have such style and musicality, and Chapdelaine’s beautiful tone is the nearest to Segovia’s that I can recall.”
In 1994 Chapdelaine turned his attention to pop music, arranging, producing, and recording Time-Life Music’s beautiful Guitar by Moonlight collection, which sold 300,000 copies in its first two years in stores. He is Professor of Music at the University of New Mexico and studied with the great Spanish maestro Andrés Segovia.
