Violist Kimberly Fredenburgh enjoys an unusual career as both Assistant Principal Viola of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra and professor of viola at the University of New Mexico.
She has served as Associate Principal Viola of the Phoenix Symphony for the past five years, and also served on the faculty at Arizona State University. She spent two years as co-principal viola of the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, FL. (Michael Tilson Thomas, music director) and performs regularly with the world-renowned Santa Fe Opera Orchestra. She has appeared as a chamber music recitalist in Europe, New York, California, South America, Canada and across the Southwest, appearing with such artists as Gil Shaham, James Buswell, Paula Robison, Marc Neikrug, Ruben Gonzalez, and the Miami String Quartet. She has appeared as a solo recitalist throughout the U.S. and in Canada. Ms. Fredenburgh holds a Master’s degree in Viola Performance and Pedagogy from Arizona State University, where she studied with Dr. William Magers. A native of New York, she studied viola at SUNY-Stonybrook with John Graham and Joyce Robbins.
