UNM offers a number of ensembles of various sizes and configurations. In addition to participation in larger ("major") ensembles, a variety of ensemble and chamber music possibilities are available for students.
MAJOR ENSEMBLES: Ensembles designated as “major ensembles” are the Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Marching Band and Concert Choir. These ensembles satisfy "major ensemble" requirements in the various undergraduate degree plans. Under certain conditions, Las Cantantes and University Chorus may also satisfy degree requirements. For details, see Ensemble Requirements (PDF, 88KB).
AUDITIONS: Most music ensembles are open to all university students. Some require no audition; others have tryouts so that the director of the ensemble can assess your capabilities and place you in the ensemble most suitable for you. All ensembles can be repeated for credit. For details, see Ensemble Auditions (PDF, 56KB).
