VISITING THE UNM MUSIC DEPARTMENT

I believe that after you have seen the program at UNM, you will be convinced that it offers one of the finest opportunities for your education and career. I take great interest in your education and career choice from the moment you express an interest in the program, throughout your studies here, and as you continue your career beyond UNM.

With a studio of 13-15 students, and no other responsibilities other than teaching percussion, I am able to give each student a great deal of individual attention.

I encourage you to visit the campus on a day when classes are in session in order to meet the students and faculty. You will have the opportunity to see the percussion ensemble, marimba band, jazz combos, jazz ensembles, wind symphony, marching band or symphony orchestra rehearse. You may sit in on a percussion lesson, attend the weekly percussion master-class and talk with percussion majors about the program. I also encourage you to leave time so that we can have a lesson to give you a better idea of how I teach and what you could learn at UNM.

I will give you a tour of our percussion facilities and fine arts complex and we can arrange a campus tour for you. We need advance notice if you desire a campus tour. If you require an overnight stay there are several nice hotels near campus or we might be able to arrange for you to room with one of our students.
