PERCUSSION INSTRUMENTS AND FACILITIES

The University of New Mexico Percussion Studio houses the largest collection of percussion instruments in the state of New Mexico. Along with the large collection of instruments, the university has some of the finest practice facilities in the state. Over the past few years, the university, music department, and band department have spent over $75,000 on new percussion equipment.

FACILITIES DESCRIPTIONS:

Instructor's Studio - Room 2130
Ludwig Maple drum set, Rogers drum set, Marimba One low E marimba, Clevelander concert snare drum, Hinger concert snare drum, Yamaha marching snare drum, complete audio and visual capabilities for lessons.

B117 Rehearsal Hall
This is the main rehearsal room for the UNM Percussion Ensemble and Marimba Band.

Office for the Percussion graduate assistants.

4 Ludwig Ringer Timpani, Marimba One 5 octave marimba, Marimba One 4 1/3 octave marimba. A video monitor is kept in this room as to allow students the opportunity to video their practice sessions.

Kori 4 ½ octave marimba. Besides the Kori marimba this room is left empty, giving students a place to set up multi-percussion pieces.

This is a newly renovated percussion storage room for all other instruments used in chamber and large ensembles. This room has custom-built cabinets and storage areas designed specifically for percussion instruments. The percussion cabinets are on wheels and can be moved to all of the performance halls.
