MUSIC EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Number of Awards:
Six to ten scholarships per year for incoming freshmen or transfer students.
Amount of Awards:
$500-$800 per year
Renewability:
Guaranteed renewable for nine semesters for students making satisfactory progress through the Bachelor of Music Education degree program
Scholarship Criteria:
Musicianship, desire to teach, communication skill, intellectual ability, leadership potential, self-initiative, mature judgment
How Measured:
- Music Department audition
- Recommendations (two, including high school music teacher)
- GPA, SAT/ACT
- Essay on music teaching (500-800 words, typed, double-spaced), describing your:
- experience in music, teaching and leadership
- reasons for wanting to teach
- personal and professional goals
NOTE: Consideration for these scholarships will be separate from other awards. Meritorious students may be able to combine Music Education Scholarships with other forms of financial aid through the Department of Music or other university units.

- Cover letter indicating your interest in Music Education scholarships, date of completed or intended Music Department audition, GPA, and SAT/ACT scores
- Two recommendations
- Essay on music teaching
