course offerings
Group Guitar I (MUS 116)
Students will learn to read music and play melodies, chords and simple songs. Emphasis on classical curriculum supplemented with instruction in other styles, including rock, blues and jazz. Student must supply instrument (classical, nylon-string guitar).
Group Guitar II (MUS 117)
For students who have completed MUS 116 or have some basic guitar skills. Emphasis on classical curriculum, supplemented with instruction in other styles, including folk, rock, blues and jazz. Student must supply instrument (classical, nylon-string guitar).
Studio Instruction
Studio instruction (private or group lessons) is available in classical or jazz guitar. Admission to a guitar studio is by audition.
ensembles
Guitar Ensemble
This ensemble meets twice a week. It is open to majors and to non-majors with significant classical background when space allows. Music reading ability is a prerequisite for taking the course. Student must supply instrument (classical, nylon-string guitar).
