Repertoire Class

Trumpet Repertoire Class studies the history of the trumpet through its repertoire.  Beginning with the birth of art music in the early Renaissance, the class will trace both the development of the repertoire and the period instruments used through the historical eras of music.

Classes are comprised of listening to examples of the highlights of the repertoire for trumpet.  Supplemental reading is required, as is the compilation of a notebook for the future use of the students.  

Pedagogy Class

Pedagogy Class will provide students with a strong background in the basics of teaching trumpet, as well as the "nuts and bolts" of the equipment available for trumpeters.

The required text is Trumpet Pedagogy, A Compendium of Modern Teaching Techniques, by David Hickman.  Classes will be discussion- based, with additional reading and quizzes, and students will be required to complete one large project.
