REGISTERING FOR CLASSES

1. advisement

Consult the Graduate Coordinator, Colleen Sheinberg, to make sure that you are registering for the correct courses.

2. consult the Schedule of classes

In order to register, you will first need to consult the online Schedule of Classes to obtain the CRN (Course Record Number) for each course that want to enroll in. The Schedule of Classes can be accessed from the UNM Home Page. You will first need to select the correct Term (semester). Then in the Subject box, you should select Music, Music Education, or Music-Applied. In the Course Number box, you can limit the search by typing a single course number. If you type 5%%, you can select all the 500-level courses.

When you locate the course you are interested in, note the CRN. This is the 5-digit number that appears in the course title. By clicking on the title you can also find out how many students are already registered, and how many places are left in the class; you can also view the special course fee amounts.

3. create a netid and password

If you don't have a UNM NetID & password yet, you will need to set one up in order to register. You can do this online.

On the UNM Home Page, select MyUNM , then scroll down to "Create a UNM NetID" and follow the instructions.

4. log in to loboweb

On the UNM Home Page, select MyUNM, then login with your NetID and password. Then select the "Student Life" tab, and click on LoboWeb.

You will have to accept financial responsibility in order to get to the registration page. Follow the instructions from this point.

5. some registration tips

  • If you are shut out of any classes when you try to enroll, be sure to note what message you get from the system when it denies you access to the class. If the instructor wants to override to let you in to the class, he or she will have to know what kind of override to perform, and that information will come from the message you received when you tried to enroll.

  • If you are trying to register for more than one ensemble under the MUS 560 course number, you will encounter a major glitch in the computer registration program. You will be able to register for the first ensemble, but will not be able to get into any others after that. This is because the computer will not allow a student to take more than one section of the same course number. The problem requires an override by either the chair of the department or by the Graduate Coordinator. Normal overrides can be done online, but this is an especially problematical one and can only be done the old-fashioned way, via "yellow card" (available in the Music Office or from the Graduate Coordinator). After getting a signature, you will need to take the card to the Records & Registration Office, Room 250 in the Student Services Building, in order to enroll in the class.
